Spiders appear where they can find insect prey, shelter, moisture, and suitable web-building sites. They may enter through wall cracks, damaged window screens, door gaps, vents, utility penetrations, and other openings connected to indoor spaces.
Common conditions that support spider activity include:
- Insects gathering around exterior lights
- Web-building sites near eaves, windows, and balconies
- Dark, undisturbed store rooms, parking areas, false ceilings, and storage corners
- Dense vegetation touching the building
- Woodpiles, boxes, and stored materials
- Persistent moisture around walls, drains, or bathrooms
- Seasonal changes in spider and insect activity
Treating visible spiders alone may not correct these conditions. Effective spider management also addresses entry points, harbourages, and the insects spiders feed on.
